Oscillating (wobbler) engines rely on cylinder pivoting to open ports, offering simple single-direction running. Slide-valve engines (such as the RW-V2, L2 and V4) use precision D-slide valves and Stephenson reversing gear for full bidirectional throttle control, higher thermal efficiency and authentic scale operation.
Yes. All Rocking Whale miniature steam engines can run on regulated compressed air (0.5–2 bar / 7–30 psi) for workshop testing, timing verification and tabletop demonstration without firing a boiler.
